1 piece of 18” x 13” inner fabric ( in the sample pictures, I used quilting cotton).
1 piece of 18” x 13” outer fabric ( denim used for the sample pictures)
1 piece of 17” x 12” of medium weight batting
coordinating thread
GATHER THE FABRICS AND BATTING YOU NEED. PRESS THE FABRICS FLAT.
PLACE THE BATTING ON THE OUTER FABRIC. REMEMBER THAT THE BATTING IS 1” SMALLER THAN THE FABRIC, SO LEAVE 1/2 INCH ON EACH SIDE.
THEN, JOIN THE BATTING AND THE FABRIC TOGETHER. STITCH THEM WITH A REGULAR STITCH LENGTH.
IN THE CASE BELOW I MADE STRAIGHT LINES SEPARATED BY 3/8 INCH IN THE MIDDLE. THE SIDES ARE MEDIUM WAVES.
AFTER THIS, PLACE THE OUTER AND INNER FABRICS TOGETHER, RIGHT SIDES FACING. PIN THE FABRICS TOGETHER.
STITCH FRONT, BOTTOM AND SIDES WITH A 3/8 INCH SEAM ALLOWANCE.
LEAVE A 4” OPENING TO BE ABLE TO TURN THE FABRIC TO THE RIGHT SIDE.
THEN, TURN THE FABRIC TO THE RIGHT SIDE AND PRESS FLAT.
THEN, MAKE DECORATIVE STITCHES ON THE PLACEMAT BY MAKING STRAIGHT LINES SEPARATED BY 3/8 INCH.
