Free Sewing Pattern: The Jeannette Dress

June 12, 2015 by Daniela 10 Comments

Thank you for visiting On the Cutting Floor.  This is the Sewing Tutorial: This is the released of Jeannette Dress: a free sewing pattern.

If this is your first time in our blog, remember to check our FREE SEWING PATTERNS page.

On that page you will find our collection of free sewing patterns for women, kids and men.

You can also visit our SEWING TUTORIALS and our SEWING REVIEWS.

We also have an ETSY STORE, where you will find unique and modern sewing pattern for women.

I am beyond excitement about this dress.  It features:

A semi fitted knit dress

Rounded neckline

Color block and one color option

Flared raglan sleeves

My favorite part of the dress is the raglan flared sleeves.  It seems that they are very popular these days and they came out beautifully with the rest of the design.  It gives a sense of easiness to a semi fitted dress (that it can be hard to wear, sometimes)

MEASUREMENT CHART

PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS

This printable PDF pattern is assembled BY OVERLAPPING THE PAGES .5 INCH (1.27 CENTIMETERS).

That will make it easier to assemble and avoid further fitting issues.  The pattern comes in letter size paper. To print this pattern, go the PDF document. Select FILE — PRINT. This pattern comes in A4 and Letter Size Version

This will be the layout of your pattern:

It will print 24 pages. Wait until all the pages are printed before taking them from the printer; it will make it easier to assemble.  When finished printing, place the pages as the layout below. Then use tape to put them together. Now cut the pieces

Sometimes, there are problems with the printing process and the patterns come in the wrong size (a little bit smaller). To avoid this, check the 1 inch square located in the first page of the printed document.

It will help you to see if the patterns are the correct size.

Great looking dress. I will be downloading it soon.
Can it be made in a longer version?
And does it have to have the cuff at the hem – I would like a bit more flair at the hem.

      Thanks for your comment 🙂

That it is a great question. I initially created the pattern with a flared bottom, but I was unsure of it. It was not me, but the dress looks great that way. I would add 7 to 10 inches to the bottom and maybe flared it 1/2 inch on each piece of the dress (there is a tutorial to make the sleeves flared, that might help)

      Happy sewing!

I will try and make this dress. Looks figurefriendly. The sleeves seem to be a bit wide maybe?

      Hi,

Thanks for your comment. You are correct about the sleeves. They are flared sleeves so they go wider at the bottom (I just love that look) If they are too wide for you, you can always check with the drafting tutorial to see how the flare was added to the raglan sleeves (and use the same concept to eliminate width)

      Happy sewing!

The flared raglan sleeves are a standout feature of this lovely dress. I’ve featured your lovely dress today…

Gorgeous dress and I can draft it myself to fit it perfectly to my own real body. Wow ! I am broke, or I’d be happy to pay at least as much as a Vogue pattern costs retail. Instead I’ll share the link in a number of places in the hopes that others will send some $ your way, and when I do have some cash, I’ll be back. Thank you for all your hard work !
