FREE SEWING PATTERN FOR KIDS: THE RAGLAN TOP

This is the raglan top for kids.  Obviously, after making my own, I could not leave my son without a t-shirt (what kind of mom would I be? 😉 )

And wait for next week, because my husband is getting one two (anniversary gift, I guess LOL)

The Fabric:

Bikeleidoscope Knit in Jet

About the pattern

Printing instructions:

This printable PDF pattern is assembled with 0.5 cms for the pages, so it must be overlapped in order to get the correct size. They are on letter size paper.
To print this pattern, go the PDF document.

Select FILE — PRINT. Here look for PAGE SIZING AND HANDLING and choose POSTER.Press PRINT.Wait until all the pages are printed before taking them from the printer; it will make it easier to assemble. When finished printing, place the pages as the layout below. Then use tape to put them together.

Now cut the pieces.

This will print 8 pages.

Sometimes, there are problems with the printing process and the patterns come in the wrong size (a little bit smaller). To avoid this, check the 1 inch square at the top left of the first page. It will help you to see if the patterns are the correct size. The PDF pattern comes in sizes 1 to 8 years; it is color-coded and easy to cut.The colors for each size are:

1 year: black
2 years: red
3 years: green
4 years: blue
5 years: orange
6 years: purple
7 years: yellow
8 years: pink

This pattern comes with a half inch seam allowance, unless indicated otherwise.

Materials:

1. Printed pattern
2. Scissors
3. Marker
4. Pins
5. Ballpoint needle
Fabric: mid weight knit jersey

Yardage Calculation:

I would recommend using your patterns in order to calculate the amount of fabric you will need. I used 1/4 yard for the main fabric (size 4), then 1/4 for the sleeves and neckline.

Not sure about the measurements? Check this body size chart to get a better idea.

Hi! I downloaded the raglan for kids a while ago (thanks for the free pattern!) And finally wanted to make my first one. However there´s nothing I found about the needed amount of ribbing for the neckband etc. Is it in the tute? Because the link doesn´t work… if I click on it it says “page not found”…

    Can you help?

    Thanks!

    Sarah

      Hi Sarah,

Thanks for your message. I am still updating some pages for the blog, but you can find the tutorial now on the link and on the download document from Craftsy. For the neckband, I suggest you to visit the tutorial for the drafting dress here: https://www.onthecuttingfloor.com/the-sweater-dress/

      Happy Sewing!

I also was curious about the neckline measurements as well, but the link above says “page not found”

Hi Daniela, first of all: a big thanks to make these free patterns, this is great for newbies 🙂
I printed this pattern on the correct size and I taped it.
But when I cut the parts out en assembled them, I’ve got the backside of the sleeves that were way to ‘high’,they were almost 2cm ‘higher’ than the backpiece of the body.
For now I could fix this: I fitted the seams of the armpits and I cut a piece of the sleeves…
But, what did I do wrong here?
I took a 1 cm seam allowance on both back and front piece of the body and the sleeves, was that my problem?

Thank you very much in advance!

    Greetings
