THE NECKTIE TOP PATTERN
I have to say that I felt inspired this time by the 40’s style. The image above got me a beautiful step to start with my pattern this time.
I know that my own skills are not even close to what you can see,
but I have tried my best to make a beautiful, easy top to wear during this season.

Such a cute top, and I downloaded the pattern. I printed it as you instructed, but the box is not measuring 1 in square. It measures 15/16ths. Do you have any advice on how to adjust this or is it close enough to the right measurement to work.
Thanks!
Daniela says
Hi Julie,
Thanks for your comment. It can be a printing issue. Can you try by choosing the option ”actual size” for the printer? I have noticed that it that way you will have the overlapping border all around the page but the box should print in the right size.
Please, do not hesitate to contacting me again if you need further assistance 🙂
Happy sewing!

Hi,
This top looks lovely! I am trying to get the pattern but the button doesn’t seem to be active. Is the pattern still there?
Thanks!
Daniela says
Hi Ines,
Thanks for the heads up! I have restored the link so now you can download the pattern 😉
Happy sewing!

Just found you and your lovely patterns, many thanks for sharing!

Hi Daniela,
This is such a lovely pattern and it looks so easy to make.
I am having some issues though. I can’t work out what to do with the necktie, where to sew it and how it fits in with the slit. Is there any way you can write some more info and give a bit more detail? Thanks. Also it is coming up a bit small. I cannot get it over my head. Where have I gone wrong?
Daniela says
Hi Laura,
thanks for your message. I am sorry to know that the pattern is being a bit confusing for you. I can help you if you send me some pictures of the area you need most help with.
Thank you!
Laura says
Thanks Daniela I will at the weekend. It’s because I am a complete beginner, not through any fault of yours… x
Laura says
I’m such a goose! I used a woven fabric, which is why it is coming up small! Duh!
Daniela says
Ohh, I see. Send me an email anyways and we see what we can do.
Happy Sewing!

Can I use a woven fabric for this pattern? I have the perfect piece. Thanks
Daniela says
Hi Maggie,
Usually, the slopers for the knit fabric patterns are different from the woven ones. However, I would think that it can work with a woven fabric, but I will suggest you to try in a muslin or a fabric that won’t be your final blouse, so you know for sure that it suits you.

I assume the fabric for this is stretch, since it’s done in a knit fabric. Do you recommend a lot of stretch, or medium stretch fabric?
Daniela says
Hi Victoria,
The fabric on the top is stretch. It is a knit fabric with 95% cotton and 5% spandex, so a medium stretch fabric will work perfectly fine

The link to the sizing chart is broken. Do the numbers match commercial pattern (e.g. McCall’s or Simplicity) sizes? Also, should I make it a bit larger if I want to do it in a woven? Thanks for sharing this cute pattern!
Daniela says
Hi Cat,
Thanks for your comment. I have added a measurement chart to the page, so it is easier to check that way. In terms of the woven fabric, the top is loose fit, but block from which I made the pattern was for knit fabric, so if you really want to make it in woven fabric, you will need to check the measurements, especially on the neckline area.
Happy Sewing!
Cat says
Ooh, thank you so much. I am so glad you posted that– I’m a size smaller on there than I am on the Simplicity dress patterns I’ve been using lately. Looking forward to making it! 😀

Hi I had clicked on the pdf pattern file but it’s says it’s not found has the patterned been removed please
Daniela says
Hi Sam,
Thank you for the heads up. The link is fixed now.
Happy sewing!

Hello,
I have a quick question as I’m prepared to cut the pattern: are the sewing margins included or not? Unless I haven’t seen it, it’s not mentionned.
Another thing: could it be possible to add sizes in cm? I’m french, and I’m not used to work with inches … 🙂 So I suppose I will start with a size 40 (EU), and I will see!
Thanks a lot for your answer!
