Easy gathered skirt for girls Sewing Tutorial

Have you ever wanted to make an easy and fast weekend project that turns out into a nightmare?
Either you are starting sewing or you are a seasoned sewist, you well know that even the simplest of the projects can get all wrong by not taking some extra precautions. That is what happened to me while encasing an elastic on a girl’s skirt without knowing exactly what I was doing.
One simple step missed…and there I was, 30 minutes later, trying to pull out the elastic out of the skirt again.Sounds familiar? Then, this tutorial is for you 🙂

Sew along the area where the elastic will be and leave a 4 inches opening on it

Take the elastic ( the body measurement minus 2 inches) and pin the safety pins on each side

Pin one of the safety pins outside of the opening

Start pulling the other pin inside of the encasing area. Pull it until it comes out on the other side of the opening

Take both sides of the elastic and sew them together. Be careful to check that the elastic is not twisted inside of the encasing
