Tutorial:  Shirring Fabric in 5 easy steps

I am glad to share this post today because shirring fabric is one of the easiest techniques you can learn to make your outfits outstanding and looking professional.

IF you are into kids’ clothing, you have noticed that this technique is used a lot! Why? Because as kids’ grew fast and it gets hard to find them clothes, shirring tops, and waistband come in handy to make the outfit last longer. Here are some projects that I have used the shirring technique:

STEPS

1. Place the elastic thread manually in a bobbin
2.  Place the bobbin in the bobbin case
3.  Put regular thread in the spool pin
4.  Set the sewing machine to its longest stitch and the loosest tension.
5.  Place the fabric, right side facing up and start sewing! Make a many parallel lines as you want.
