New Pattern Released: The Flora Skirt

I have loved to see all the testers’ amazing creations, full of creativity.  I am amazed by the designs and how they have made the skirt to be a great, all year long skirt pattern.

So, here are the pictures of the patterns and the links to thorough testers’ reviews on their sites:

Pam, the blogger behind Josephine Sews has decided to test the skirt with her sewing student.  They both fell in love with the whimsical and creative aspect of it!

TUTORIAL

The fabric is gorgeous!  I couldn’t not wait to start with my project.Until the fabric arrived, and I look at the elephants again.
In my defense, I do not think I was looking at the size of the elephants LOL!Fortunately,  I also bought a stone blue and I have scraps from the Catalina dress Macaw green fabric. So, I cut them into straps.  And I sat on the floor to think.

About the pattern

The Alice skirt is a paneled skirt with an easy, shirring waistband, which makes it comfortable and ready to wear during this summer. The Alice skirt is so easy that you do not need patterns to make it.  However, I have add an instruction sheet with the measurement of each rectangle.

Materials:

1. Fabric
2. Matching thread
4.  Elastic Thread
5. Pins
7. Measuring tape or ruler
8.  Scissors

Fabric:

Light and medium weight fabrics such as cotton and linen.

Yardage Calculation:

I recommend using the patterns pieces to know the amount of fabric you will use.
For a size 10 (40 inches hips measurement) I used 3/4 of a yard of the main fabric and 1/2 yard of the blue hemline and panels and 1/2 yard of the green waistband and panels.

Besides, I love block color skirts, but I did not want to go that way.  I wanted something different.
That is why I cut the fabric into panels.  I played with them and put them together.  I am sure you can do this with almost any skirt project ;)That is exactly what I love the most about this project: its versatility.  I am thinking of so many different ways to put skirts, even dresses together! And that is how Alice skirt was born.

Sometimes, in the process of creating a new project, you must face some hiccups.  At the beginning they seem random and annoying, with no better purpose than slow down your productivity and doubt your own creativity. That is what happened with the Alice skirt. When I bought the fabric online,  I had in mind this beautiful pair of shorts with a shirring waistband.
